West Somerset Line

Last summer I was commissioned by a Popular house builder David Wilson Homes to photogragh Taunton and the Surrounding areas. As an Editorial photographer this is always a lovely brief to have. Armed with only a small list of possible locations, this frees me up to explore the area and enjoy my photography. Taunton has some lovely locations, Tudor Buildings, Medieval Castles and a top notch Cricket Ground, the picturesque Somerset Cricket ground. Thatchers Cider quite often send me there to shoot product photography and to take PR Photographs as they are one of the Somerset’s main sponsors. Luckily a 5 day game was on so I could wonder pass the kindly stewards, fleshing my Press Card, practice my Sports photography and enjoy the sunshine, West Country pasties and atmosphere.

I also photographed the surrounding countryside, skimming the Quantocks and following the West Country Trainline towards Minehead. Enjoying a cup of tea near Williton I could hear the sound of the train puffing near by . Ok I thought, capturing the Steam train travelling though the landscape would make a great photo. I then started a chase with the train, managing to miss it at all the stations until capturing it, by seconds at the Picturesque Bishops Lydeard Station.
