I’ve just heard a really interesting programme on Wassailing and Somerset Cider Making on Radio 4 yesterday, It featured John Thatcher in Exhibition Orchard, which he designed and planted. Link below. I've been in that orchard many times and contains 458 different varieties of apples (458 !!!) In late summer, early autumn the orchard is a riot of colour, just beautiful.
